Corporate Message

Kindai Corporation was founded in 1966 by the late Yasuo Kobayashi, the company’s first owner, and his wife Eiko, and has been in business for more than 50 years. We are a real estate developer with our core business in the Ikebukuro East Exit area, as well as in Shinjuku, Kyoto, and Okinawa, mainly in the rental building business, but in fact our ancestor business was a bar named “Kurobasha.” It goes back even further, to the postwar days when Yasuo Kobayashi led a big band as a jazz drummer and bandmaster, touring in Okinawa and Ginza to save money for his business.

Started by the two, Yasuo Kobayashi and Eiko, in a small corner of Ikebukuro that is less than 33 square meters, the tiny bar has evolved flexibly with the changing times and needs. It has ventured into various new businesses such as Japanese-style pub, cafes, Italian restaurants, yakiniku (Japanese style BBQ) restaurants, overseas real estate investments, and more. The result of continuous flexible change is what our company is today.

Our mission as a real estate developer, primarily in the rental building business, is to attract attractive tenants to the city, create new value by providing high-quality real estate services to our clients, and contribute to the development of the city.

Rather than pursuing short-term profits, we are committed to growing together with the city from a long-term perspective, based on the belief that “the city is the foundation of leasing buildings”.

In recent years, the environment surrounding the rental building business has undergone drastic changes, such as the acceleration of remote work due to the COVID-19 pandemic and a shift away from dining out. Merely continuing past successful experiences is no longer sufficient to attract customers in this evolving world.

In these times, we have been and will continue to be flexible and change in order to sincerely consider what we should do to “contribute to the development of the city,” that is, to “provide new value to those who live, work, and enjoy the city.”
